On this page you will find images of Shetland Ponies from The Stow Shetland Pony Stud, performing at various shows around Scotland, between 2009 and 2019. A resume also accompanies images. Once again, each picture can be seen in enlarged form and in for greater detail by holding the cursor over the thumbnail image. At the end of this list of notable ponies, a collage of images from the Royal Highland Show, at Ingliston, in 2005 is included. |

Stow Viola Viola presented the Stow Stud with their 2nd R.H.A.S. Championship (in their opinion one of the most prestigious honours to be won in the breed) both ponies being from the same family, the first “Black Velvet” being a daughter and the latest “Viola” a maternal granddaughter of revered matron “Stow Victoria” (sire Merrymaster of Netherley and dam Wells Vision). Jim and Renee had high hopes for Viola from her foal days and really loved watching her mature into a beautiful filly/mare-with tremendous conformation including an outstanding “top line” and a “beautiful feminine head”- all of which contribute to her very successful show career-unbeaten ever in her class and including championship wins since she was a yearling and also Mountain and Moorland etc. overall championships. In particular, Jim and Renee noticed R.H.A.S. Judge Mr. Guy Hurst’s (from Alresford, Hampshire) summary for the “Scottish Farmer” viz: “It was very feminine with tremendous presence, I couldn’t take my eyes off her when she came into the ring.” The comment summarises Jim and Renee’s opinion of her and also to their great satisfaction that also of many of their fellow exhibitors. |

Wells Renown Sire: Wells Vintage (2783)
39" Black. This stallion (again bought by us on the advice of Mr. H.P.Sleigh) was purchased from Mr. Ian Thomson of the Drum Stud. To date, Renown was also responsible for probably our most successful show winning pony, Stow Black Velvet (017314) only once ever beaten (and this by a pony from our own stud). She was champion at every other show she went to, including RHAS. He was also responsible for Riverston Renegade (4466S), a full brother to Stow Review, being carried by Beauty of Cawdor when we sold her and who is proving to be a very successful sire for D. and W. Anderson’s Strocherrie Stud. |
